【International Exchange DAYS】 "Let's enjoy SHODO" Held

On Wednesday, December 17, as part of the International Exchange DAYS program, the event "Let's enjoy SHODO" was held in the OIER Conference Room. This year, 19 international students and 6 Japanese students from the university's calligraphy club participated.
One student joined the event for the third consecutive year, and it was heartwarming to see how much they looked forward to it each time.
During the event, members of the calligraphy club served as instructors, kindly teaching the basics of Japanese calligraphy, including how to hold a brush and techniques such as *tome* (stop), *hane* (flick), and *harai* (sweep). Many of the international students were using a brush for the first time and initially found it challenging, but with practice, they quickly improved.
After choosing their favorite kanji characters and practicing repeatedly, the participants completed their final works by writing the characters on next year's calendar. Some students also carefully wrote their names in katakana, resulting in unique and expressive pieces. The room was filled with smiles and a sense of accomplishment.
It was a warm and memorable experience where participants not only explored the beauty of Japanese culture but also deepened their connections with one another.
