ザンビア大学ご一行が本学を表敬訪問されました /Delegation from the University of Zambia Pays Courtesy Visit to Mie University

2026年10月1日（木）、ザンビア大学が本学学長を表敬訪問されました。
On October 1, 2026, a delegation from the University of Zambia visited Mie University and paid a courtesy call on President Ito.

三重大学とザンビア大学は、2014年に学術交流協定を締結して以来、特に医学分野を中心に、学生・教職員の交流や臨床研修などを通じて、長年にわたり交流を続けています。
Mie University and the University of Zambia have maintained academic exchanges since signing an academic exchange agreement in 2014. In particular, the two universities have developed close ties in the field of medicine through student and faculty exchanges, clinical training, and other activities.

今回の訪問では、三重県の半導体産業の中心であるキオクシア株式会社四日市工場と、三重県広域防災拠点（北勢拠点）を見学されました。その後、本学で学ぶザンビア人留学生との食事会を開催するとともに、伊藤学長を表敬訪問しました。

During their visit, the delegation toured Kioxia Corporation's Yokkaichi Plant, a major hub of Mie Prefecture's semiconductor industry, as well as the Mie Prefectural Wide-Area Disaster Management Base (Hokusei Base).

Afterwards, the delegation visited Mie University, where they had a dinner with Zambian students studying at the University and paid a courtesy visit to President Ito.

学長表敬では、これまでの両大学の交流について意見交換が行われ、今後の学生交流や共同研究、人材育成など、さらなる連携の可能性について活発な意見交換が行われました。また、医学分野における連携の一例として、2024年にザンビア大学医学部に設立されたマイクロサージャリー・トレーニングセンターについても話題となりました。同センターの設立には、三重大学医学部形成外科の成島三長教授を中心とした本学関係者による、これまでのザンビアとの技術交流や人材育成の取組がつながっており、現在も現地の医師を対象とした技術研修が行われています。

During the courtesy call, the participants exchanged views on the history of collaboration between the two universities, as well as on opportunities for further cooperation in areas such as student exchange, joint research, and human resource development. The Micro Surgery Training Center established at the University of Zambia School of Medicine in 2024 was also discussed as one example of the universities' collaboration in the field of medicine. The establishment of the center builds on the long-standing technical exchange and human resource development initiatives between the University of Zambia and Mie University, led by Professor Mitsunaga Narushima of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Mie University Graduate School of Medicine. The center currently provides technical training for doctors in Zambia.

学長表敬後は、参加者それぞれの専門分野や関心に応じて、医学、工学、生物資源などの分野に分かれ、本学の教員との意見交換や関連施設の見学を行いました。専門分野を越えた交流を通じて、今後の共同研究や学生交流などにつながる新たな連携の可能性についても意見を交わしました。

Following the courtesy call, the delegation was divided into groups according to their respective fields of expertise and interests, including medicine, engineering, and bioresources. Each group exchanged views with faculty members and visited relevant facilities. Through these interdisciplinary exchanges, the participants also discussed new opportunities for future collaboration, including joint research and student exchange.

今回の訪問は、北海道大学、創価大学、広島大学、京都大学を巡る日本訪問の一環として行われました。本学では、両大学のこれまでの連携をあらためて確認するとともに、今後の教育・研究・人材育成分野におけるさらなる交流について意見を交わす貴重な機会となりました。

三重大学では、今後もザンビア大学との連携を深め、学生・研究者の交流や共同研究、人材育成など、幅広い分野での国際交流を推進していきます。

This visit was part of a wider visit to Japan, which included visits to Hokkaido University, Soka University, Hiroshima University, and Kyoto University. At Mie University, it provided a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the history of collaboration between the two universities and to exchange views on further cooperation in education, research, and human resource development.

Mie University will continue to strengthen its partnership with the University of Zambia and promote international exchange in a wide range of areas, including student and researcher exchanges, joint research, and human resource development.
