Winners of Best Student Presentation Awards

Selection Process

The selection of award winners was carried out with extreme fairness and strictness.

Two professors were selected as judges from each of the five faculties of Mie University before the event started. There were two judges in each of the five themes, and, therefore, there were ten judges in total. Every judge is a trustworthy expert with a wide range of knowledge and experience on each of the five themes of this year's Tri-U IJSS: Population, Energy, Food, Environment, and Communication. Nobody knew who the judges were since they had their identities masked.

Before the session began, the chairperson of Steering Committee explained to all the judges the procedure how they should evaluate presentations and decide award winners. Giving them evaluation sheets, she put an emphasis on the following five points to be evaluated: relevance of the presentation's topic to the theme the presenter chose, originality, logic, intelligible explanation, and performance.

The judges read carefully all of the papers in the theme which they were entrusted with, listened to all the presentations, and examined poster presentations at poster sessions. After all oral sessions and poster sessions finished, the two judges discussed and worked on deciding the best presenter in the theme which they were in charge of. Finally all judges gathered to reach a final decision of award winners in the five themes.
