CSC-MieU Scholarship Program for the Academic Year 2025 Application Guidelines

1. Outline

Mie University accepts applications from students to be enrolled in the academic year 2025 under the Chinese Government's Graduate Student Overseas Study Program and the CSC-MieU Scholarship Program sponsored by the Chinese Government and Mie University (MieU). The acceptance of applications is conducted jointly by MieU and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) under the agreement executed in August 2023 between MieU and CSC, and individuals who have passed the MieU's entrance examination and the CSC's screening are permitted to enroll. 

2. Type of students whose application is accepted

Students in the doctor courses
Individuals who are enrolled in the doctor courses of our Graduate School and aim to acquire doctoral degree

5. Period of acceptance under this program

Within the standard study years in each course (If enrolled beyond the standard study years, no CSC scholarship is granted and tuition will be collected.)

6. Eligibility for application

Applicants must satisfy all of (1) - (5) below:

(1) An individual who has a Chinese nationality;

(2) An individual who satisfies the eligibility requirements for application of the Chinese Government Graduate Student Overseas Study Program set by CSC;

(3) An individual whose Japanese or English proficiency satisfies the conditions required by each Graduate School (see 14. Application guidelines for each Graduate School);

(4) An individual who has obtained an application permit from his/her desired academic advisor; and

(5) An individual who falls under any of the following:

(i) An individual who has completed a master's course of Graduate School and has been granted a master's degree in a university that has executed an academic exchange agreement (including inter-department agreement) with MieU or in a university designated for the 211 Project, or an individual who is expected to complete such course and be granted a master's degree by the time of enrollment;

(ii) An individual who has completed a master's course of Graduate School and has been granted a master's degree in MieU, or an individual who is expected to complete such course and be granted a master's degree by the time of enrollment; or

(iii) An individual who has enrolled in the MieU's doctor courses and is currently registered in the first year.

7. Tuition, etc.

(If newly enrolled in the doctor courses)
None of examination fee, admission fee, and tuition will be collected. However, the period when no tuition is collected is limited to the standard study years in each course, and if such period is extended, tuition will be collected for the extended period.

(If currently registered in the MieU's doctor courses)
No tuition will be collected from the second year, and neither examination fee nor admission fee will be refunded.

9. Application period and procedures

As specified by each Graduate School (see 14. Application guidelines for each Graduate School).

10. Screening and announcement of screening results

(1) Whether application is accepted or not is determined in the screening method (including oral examination) designated by each Graduate School, and primary successful applicants are
thereby decided, and its results are notified by each Graduate School.

(2) The primary successful applicants will become final successful applicants at the stage when they pass the screening of CSC and submit to MieU a certificate of eligibility to study abroad funded by CSC. Admission will not be granted to an applicant who is not successful in the screening of CSC.

(3) The applicants should send a copy of the certificate of eligibility to study abroad funded by CSC (in English and Chinese) via
email to the contact person of the Graduate School upon its receipt. The applicants should also mail its original (in English) to the contact person of the Graduate School (see 14. Application guidelines for each Graduate School).


11. Enrollment procedures
Each Graduate School will inform the applicants of the procedures required for the enrollment after receiving the certificate of eligibility to study abroad funded by CSC, and the applicants should go through the procedures by the due date designated by each Graduate School.


12. Security trade control
MieU has established the National University Corporation Mie University Security Trade Control Regulations in accordance with the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act, and has been implementing a strict examination in accepting international students. If an international student falls under any of the regulated matters, he/she may not be able to receive desired education or conduct research. We request the international students whom we accept to sign and submit a written pledge at the time of enrollment for the purpose of preventing the leakage of technologies and goods through the international students.

13. Notes
(1) We will not accept an application if there is any insufficiency in the submitted application documents, etc. We will not allow a change to the application documents, etc. after accepting them.

(2) We will not return the application documents, etc. once accepted for whatever reason.

(3) If an applicant makes a false statement or fails to make a required statement in the application documents, etc., we may cancel the admission even after deciding his/her enrollment.

(4) We will use the personal information entered in the application documents, etc. (name, date of birth, sex, other personal information, etc.) to select applicants to be enrolled, notify success in the screening, and go through the enrollment procedures. MieU will manage such information for the purpose of performing the work related to student support after the enrollment of successful applicants. We will not use it for any other purposes, nor provide it to anyone other than MieU's relevant faculty and staff.
