- 31st May, 1949
- Mie University is founded. It is comprised of the Faculty of Liberal Arts (Training Course for Primary School Teachers, Training Course for Junior High School Teachers), and the Faculty of Agriculture (Department of Agriculture, Department of Civil Agriculture, Department of Forestry, Department of Agricultural and Industrial Production).
- University facilities include the University Library, a Senior High School, Junior High School, Primary School, and Kindergarten associated with the Faculty of Liberal Arts, and an experimental farm and forest associated with the Faculty of Agriculture. Mie University’s predecessor schools were the Mie Normal School, Mie Normal School for Youth School Teachers, and the Mie Higher Agricultural and Forestry College.

- The Faculty of Agriculture’s one-year Agriculture Graduate Course is established.

- 1st April, 1963
- The attached Junior High Schools and Primary Schools in Tsu and Kameyama are amalgamated in Tsu.

- The Faculty of Agriculture’s Department of Agricultural Machinery is established, and the Department of General Agriculture is closed.

- The Faculty of Agriculture’ course system is adopted.

- The Faculty of Agriculture’s one-year Agriculture Graduate Course is discontinued.

- The Graduate School of Agriculture’s Master’s Course is established.
- The Faculty of Liberal Arts is renamed the Faculty of Education.
- The Faculty of Education’s Training Course for Handicapped Children’s School Teachers and one-year Education Graduate Course are established.

- The Faculty of Education’s Training Course for Kindergarten Teachers is established.

- The Faculty of Education moves to it’s current location in Kamihama.
- The Faculty of Engineering, comprising the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering, is established.

- The Faculty of Engineering’s Department of Industrial Chemistry is established.
- The Experimental Farm moves to it’s current location in Takanō.

- The Faculty of Medicine (comprising the School of Medicine) and the Faculty of Fisheries (comprising the Department of Fisheries) are established (transferred to Mie University from Mie Prefectural University).

- The Faculty of Education’s School for the Mentally Handicapped is established.
- The Executive Office of the General Affairs Department, the Accounting Department, and the Facilities Department are reorganized.

- The University Hospital is established (transferred from the Mie Prefectural University). The Faculty of Medicine’s Administration Department is established.

- The Faculty of Medicine’s School of Nursing is established.

- The position of Director of General Education is created.

- The Faculty of Education’s Education Technology Center is reorganized to form the Center for Educational Research and Practice.
- The Administration Departments of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital are merged.

- 1st October, 1987
- The Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Fisheries are combined and reorganized to establish the Faculty of Bioresources, comprising the Institute of Bioresources.
- The Experimental Farm, Experimental Forest, Training Ship Seisui Maru, and Fisheries Research Laboratory become part of the Faculty of Bioresources.

- The Center for International Students is established.
- The Administration Bureau and the Student Affairs Department are combined to form the Educational Affairs Department of the General Affairs Division.
- Mie University Vice-Presidental positions are created.
- The position of Director of General Education is discontinued.
